Community comes together to raise money for the Church roof

28 March 2025

Last weekend our famous St Edward's Quiz took place at the Church. It was really well supported by the community, with an amazing afternoon tea mid way through. Although we were claiming it a "fix" when Father David's team won, but on the more positive side, we raised over £1000 for the Church roof! Thank you everyone who supported us.

If you zoom in you will see the two steeplejacks at the top of the spire - they are working with no scaffolding, only a ladder and some rope! They are gilding, or repairing the cockerel on the weathervane. The trees in the foreground are still there and looking good, the wall unfortunately is not looking so well, the railings are long gone! No fear and I am guessing this was before insurance! What a moment in history captured!

Our amazing band of volunteers were helping out again last weekend. Here is a fabulous photo of them making up the candles for the Christingle service. What would we do without them?

Everyone gets involved at St Edward's!

29 January 2025

We have been trying new ways to involve the children in the congregation so they really feel welcome at St Edward's. This can include them taking the offertory, helping out with taking the Elements as well as sharing their work at the end of the service. This weekend we tried to be even more inventive with our youngest bellringers giving it a go! As you can see from their faces they loved the experience.

We have twinned out Toilet

13 January 2025

If you pop to spend a penny at our Church in the Market Place - you will see an unusual photo in the toilet. To support the aims of our Eco Church Team we have twinned our toilet with a latrine in Nepal. You will see the photo of the toilet in our loo! In all seriousness, the principle of toilet twinning is you choose a toilet you use and twin it with one given to a community who are in need of safe places to go to the toilet. The money we have raised not only funds a toilet, but also helps support community education and sanitation programmes.
