Revd Jordan Palmer returns to St Edward's Church.

16 May 2025

We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Jordan Palmer as the next vicar of St. Edward the Confessor Church, Romford.
Jordan will be known to many of you already – from 2018 until 2020 Jordan was our youth worker and was instrumental in making Ed’s Place, our very successful young people’s hub in the High Street. Jordan left us during the covid period to start his training for ordination in Cambridge. After completing his MA in Theology in 2022, Jordan served his curacy at All Saints Maldon, St. Andrew’s Heybridge, St. George’s Heybridge and St. Giles Langford.

Jordan, his wife Hannah and their 3 young children, are very excited to join us all soon. The Institution and Installation Service of Jordan by the Bishop of Barking will take place on Thursday 3rd July at 7.30pm. We are very excited to welcome Jordan back to St Edward's and I know you will make Jordan and his family very welcome.

Jordan said, "Romford has shaped me and holds a very special place in my heart. I am immensely thrilled to return and serve this town as Vicar of St. Edward the Confessor, and I look forward to walking alongside this vibrant community in faith and with the love of God."

Many many congratulations to Shelly and Isaac who celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary with us this weekend. We celebrated their long and happy marriage as a community with wine and a beautiful cake. Father David blessed their eternity rings and we were thrilled at St Edward's to be able to celebrate this very special day, with them as a community.

From everyone at St Edward's we wish you a very long and happy life together.

Community comes together to raise money for the Church roof

28 March 2025

Last weekend our famous St Edward's Quiz took place at the Church. It was really well supported by the community, with an amazing afternoon tea mid way through. Although we were claiming it a "fix" when Father David's team won, but on the more positive side, we raised over £1000 for the Church roof! Thank you everyone who supported us.

St Edward's Church 1890

24 March 2025

If you zoom in you will see the two steeplejacks at the top of the spire - they are working with no scaffolding, only a ladder and some rope! They are gilding, or repairing the cockerel on the weathervane. The trees in the foreground are still there and looking good, the wall unfortunately is not looking so well, the railings are long gone! No fear and I am guessing this was before insurance! What a moment in history captured!

Everyone gets involved at St Edward's!

29 January 2025

We have been trying new ways to involve the children in the congregation so they really feel welcome at St Edward's. This can include them taking the offertory, helping out with taking the Elements as well as sharing their work at the end of the service. This weekend we tried to be even more inventive with our youngest bellringers giving it a go! As you can see from their faces they loved the experience.
